On Saturday,May 31th Aylus hosted its weekly tutoring sessions at the Parkville library. Two volunteers went to the Parkville library to tutor 4 kids with grade levels varying from kindergarten to 6th grade. One volunteer tutored two first grade students with vocabulary, paragraph writing, reading books, and phonics. The first grader seemed very eager to learn and proved to grasp words and concepts quickly. They read multiple books to learn about sentence structure and try to expand their vocabularies. Another volunteer tutored a 5th grader and 6th grader. The sixth grader was in science and environmental awareness. We also went over his homework and helped him with misconceptions he had and helped with the grammar and word choice. The fifth grader worked on different types of perimeter and classifying shapes. Overall a lot of progress was made and we hope to see more improvement in the weeks to come.
