Event 57: AYLUS Morris Branch Leads Food Drive to Support Local Families in May 2025

On May 31st, the AYLUS Morris Branch wrapped up a successful food drive aimed at supporting local families facing food insecurity. Recognizing the rising need for basic resources in the community, especially during the summer months when school-based meal programs pause, the branch took action by organizing a canned food collection. Members set up donation boxes at local businesses and community centers, encouraging residents to contribute non-perishable food items. Through consistent outreach and promotion, the team rallied strong community support and collected an impressive total of 60 pounds of canned food, including vegetables, beans, soups, fruits, and other staples.

AYLUS volunteers played an active role in sorting and packaging the donations to ensure everything was in good condition and ready for delivery. On the afternoon of May 31st, members personally delivered the collected food to Helping Hands, a local organization dedicated to supporting low-income families and individuals in crisis. The handoff marked the culmination of weeks of preparation and collaboration, and the food is now set to be distributed to those in need across the area. Helping Hands expressed appreciation for the donation, noting the growing importance of youth involvement in humanitarian efforts.

This food drive is a testament to the AYLUS Morris Branch’s deep-rooted mission of giving back and making a tangible impact. By involving local residents and working with a trusted charity partner, the team not only provided essential supplies to the community but also raised awareness about hunger and service. The initiative reflects the group’s continued leadership and commitment to addressing real-world issues through collective action. As the branch looks ahead, they remain focused on finding meaningful ways to serve—one drive, one delivery, and one act of kindness at a time.
