Tutoring Program Report – GN Station Library 5/27/2025
At 6 pm, the Great Neck Station Library tutoring program continues to provide vital academic support for local children, focusing on areas such as math, reading, and writing. Running for one hour per session, the program is led by a group of exceptional high school volunteers—students with high GPAs and a strong commitment to education.
Each tutor brings unique strengths to the team: To begin with, Baiyu Chen supports students with math homework and research papers, offering both academic clarity and strong writing guidance. In addition, Benjamin Ko specializes in English tutoring, helping students improve their grammar, reading comprehension, and writing skills. Moreover, Ivy Li focuses on math, helping children develop confidence with numbers and problem-solving. Serena Chen assists younger children with foundational math skills, creating a fun and supportive learning environment. Last but not least, Emma Ding checks students’ homework, ensuring accuracy and providing feedback that helps them learn from their mistakes.
All volunteers approach their work with seriousness and dedication. They not only help students complete assignments but also encourage them to develop critical thinking and a love for learning. Their professionalism, patience, and clear communication make a lasting impact on the children they tutor.
This program has proven to be a valuable resource for the community, nurturing both academic growth in the students and leadership development in the volunteers.
