On May 17th, members of the Syosset AYLUS volunteered at Jones Beach for the annual airshow, where they assisted with protecting the fenced-off areas designated for endangered bird species. The group’s main responsibility was to watch over the fence and ensure that no visitors approached or crossed into the protected habitat. Throughout the day, members stayed engaged, politely reminding people to keep clear of the restricted areas and explaining the importance of leaving the birds undisturbed. As the airshow drew larger crowds, AYLUS volunteers carefully monitored the fence line, making sure everyone respected the boundaries, and taking time to enjoy the well performed airshow. Overall, the group’s volunteer efforts provided valuable support to the staff and conservation teams working hard to safeguard the endangered birds at Jones Beach, making it a meaningful and rewarding experience for all involved.
