On May 22nd, AYLUS volunteers dedicated their time at the station library, offering academic assistance to students and parents. Volunteer Baiyu Chen provided comprehensive math support, explaining difficult concepts to a student, and she also read a few picture books to a three-year-old boy from 5pm to 6pm, while 6-7 pm was too late for the little one. Volunteer Elaine Xing provided specialized tutoring for her 8-year-old students’ Kangaroo USA math homework, catching and correcting mistakes made and ensuring that everything was accurate. Volunteer Ivy Li guided a student through an Edpuzzle lesson on fentanyl, clarifying any points in the video that the student was unable to understand. Volunteer Jason Zeng assisted his student, Alvin, focusing on challenging math concepts like subtracting and multiplying negative numbers, and later in the session, would also review his biology work to ensure thorough comprehension. Volunteer Summer Lu worked with a 5th-grade student, reviewing homework assignments and correcting any inaccuracies within the work. Lastly, Benjamin Ko helped a mom practice daily English, like how to look for a primary doctor to do her wellness check-up.
The efforts of the AYLUS volunteers, because of their dedication to helping young learners stay productive and motivated in their studies, were displayed in today’s session and show their dedication to helping the community.
