On Sunday, May 18th, members from the Syosset AYLUS branch met up with Duke Alumni to plant flowers for Sunrise Planting Day at the Sunrise Day Camp. There were people everywhere, ready to plant flowers all over the camp.
The volunteers took garden shovels, gloves and a tray a flowers and got to work. They were assigned a patch of mulch near the picnic area and planted certain flowers in shaded areas and certain flowers in sunny areas based on need. Groups of other people working also went around trading flowers that didn’t match their patch’s color scheme; making sure everything looked perfect!
At the end of the event, the camp director came out and thanked everybody for their time.
