On Saturday, April 26, 2025, members of the Newtown Branch of AYLUS dedicated their time from 1:45 PM to 4:15 PM volunteering at the FabLab Center (One Ivybrook Blvd. Ste 190, Warminster, PA). Fablab is a STEAM learning center where children and youth of all ages are able to explore various technologies and skills related to science, engineering, art, and math.
Two volunteers helped a group of 15 children learn how to 3-D print. Students first used 3-D pens to learn the basics of printing and create small objects. They then moved on to learning how to create models through the Tinkercad software. Our volunteers helped with set up, clean up, and provided assistance throughout to ensure that the program ran smoothly.
The event was successful, with children gaining a strong understanding of 3-D printing and using computer software to build models. Any questions were thoroughly answered and the students felt that they had a great experience.
Members who participated were Justin Peng and Ivan Lee, both for 2.5 hours.
