04/26/2025 – Earth Day Volunteer Event at the Wolf River Greenway (9:30 AM – 12:30 PM)

Participants:

  1. Yifei Ren (3hrs)
  2. Irvin Ju (3hrs)

As part of the Earth Day celebration, Yifei Ren and Irvin Ju participated in a community volunteer event held at the Wolf River Greenway, contributing a total of 3.5 hours each. The event began with a brief welcome and orientation session, during which the importance of environmental stewardship and conservation was emphasized.

Volunteers were then divided into five teams, each assigned to different tasks. Yifei and Irvin joined the garbage collection team. Their group hiked through a wooded trail that led to a scenic beach area along the river. Equipped with gloves and trash bags, they carefully collected a significant amount of litter, including plastic bottles, wrappers, and other debris that had accumulated along the riverbank and surrounding forest area.

Once the bags were filled, the volunteers carried them back to a designated drop-off site for proper disposal. The activity not only helped improve the cleanliness and beauty of the natural environment but also fostered a strong sense of teamwork and environmental responsibility among the participants.

On April 11th, 2025, members of the AYLUS Greater Memphis Branch volunteered at Shelby Farms Park to clean the park from 5:15 PM to 7:00 PM.
