On Saturday, April 19, Syosset AYLUS members went to the Bethpage garden to tackle invasives and help with seed packaging. Bethpage State Park offers a variety of places to sightsee such as different trails, children’s playgrounds, and picnic shelters. In preparation for a seed festival being held in June, volunteers helped prepare 1400 packages of seeds. These packets will be handed out to visitors so everyone can take them home and help spread native species around Long Island. In addition, other volunteers went out into the fields of the park to help pull out Mugwort, an invasive species in New York.
