On Sunday April 20, 2025, from 10:30 am-1:30 pm Aylus Roslyn volunteers went to CP Bayville located in Nassau County. CP Bayville is an Intermediate Care Facility located on the North Shore of Long Island. The goal for CP Bayville is to meet and enhance the medical, therapeutic, emotional, psychosocial and recreational needs and wants of each resident. We volunteers visit them to do fun crafts and entertainment activities.
Once we arrived, we started out by introducing ourselves because it has been some time since we have seen everyone. All the residents and staff were so pleased and excited to see us! Our first activity of the day was Bingo. We started out with Bingo because it was a good warmup and it is always very fun to see who got lucky. We helped each resident place chips on the squares that they had. After Bingo some of the residents asked us to play bowling. We started to set up all the pins. Once we finished setting up we brought each resident up and helped guide their hand if needed to push the ball down the slope and knock down all the pins! Some residents played twice because it was so fun!
Next we brought out a bunch of different activities like fishing, coloring, arts and crafts, Easter games, and connect 4. Each resident picked out their favorite activity to do and we assisted them in it. A lot of residents found the fishing game especially fun! We also had a competition and it was in connect 4. Some residents competed against each other and some of them competed with us. Everyone was jovial and participated.
After everybody was done with their activities we tried to get the Wii from the office so that the residents could play their favorite video, Jeopardy but we couldn’t bring the Wii out because the office was locked. Although this was a bummer we still had a lot of fun. We ended the day off by helping the staff bring each resident up for lunch. It was so amazing that we could spend time with the wonderful residents and create new memories with each other! We hope to come back soon!
