On April 15th, AYLUS members recycled used batteries.
After collecting batteries from around their homes again, the batteries were cleaned of residue and bagged for safe keeping. After researching a few different centers, many of which closed down, they found a local Staples that would take them. The volunteers then met together and drove to the recycling center to dispose of the batteries safely, the contents weighing 5 pounds total. Recycling batteries reduces their waste that enters landfills and prevents contamination, water pollution, and toxic fumes that can harm public health.
