On Saturday, April 12th, 2025, from 12:00 am to 4:00 pm, members of the AYLUS Roslyn Branch volunteered at NOSH Delivers!, a nonprofit organization that provides free meals to unfortunate families.
On this day, we hosted many families for a Passover Youth Day of Service event, where we helped them design easter eggs and passover hearts that would be donated to the Ronald Mcdonald House, a non profit charity that provides families with a place to stay nearby a hospital if a family member is staying there. At first, we helped prepare for the event by setting up tables, eggs, hearts, stickers, markers, and chairs. During the event, we created examples of eggs and hearts, helped kids tie ribbons onto the eggs and hearts, and helped kids come up with ideas for what to put on their eggs or hearts. We also helped design and create breakfast and lunch bags filled with cereal, juice, and macaroni and cheese. At the end of the event, we helped clean up and helped perform tasks like making information cards.
This event showed us how many people in the community were willing to help others in need. It also taught us valuable skills like how to work with children and organization. It was an overall enjoyable experience and we would love to volunteer for this event next year.
