On April 13, from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, AYLUS Great Neck volunteered to spread wood chips around Kings Point Park. Each volunteer worked with rakes to spread provided wood chips, specifically tree branch fragments and leaves, into a layer to nourish the soil near the trail sections of the park. Working tirelessly with few breaks during the two-hour work period, their final work was commendable, as they spread wood chips not only over the picnic bench area but also near the trail area.
This spreading of wood chips not only helps make trails safer but also nourishes soil and encourages plant growth. The volunteers came together to help improve the park’s experience for all its visitors, and they will continue doing so every week.
