On 4/11/25, 3 members of AYLUS presented an information session on two common high
school activities from 7:15 to 8:15. Ivan Lee and Zhenyi Zhang presented information on
marching band, while Kylee Guo shared information about orchestra.
Ivan Lee and Zhenyi Zhang explained the components and benefits of marching band through
personal experience. They explained the various levels of marching band and what
differentiates them. They then discussed USBands and how competition is organized in
marching band. They ended by explaining how to get started and providing future pathways to
continue marching band.
Kylee Guo provided information on the different categories of orchestra, explaining each one
thoroughly. She spoke about orchestra at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. She
then explained local opportunities such as the BCMEA and PMEA music festivals in
Pennsylvania as well as groups like PYO and YOBC. She finished her presentation by providing
local tutors and other resources to join the orchestra.
Following the presentations, any questions were thoroughly answered to the best of their
abilities. Members who participated were Ivan Lee (event leader), Kylee Guo, and Zhenyi
Zhang, all for 1 hour.
