AYLUS Greater Memphis Volunteers at the 2025 Chinese New Year Fair
On February 8, 2025, AYLUS Greater Memphis participated in the first Chinese New Year Fair, organized by the Greater Memphis United Chinese Association at the Agriculture Center in Memphis, TN. As part of the event, AYLUS set up a fundraising booth to support the Regional Intervention Program (RIP). Volunteers played a crucial role in setting up tables, organizing items, and engaging with visitors to raise funds.
At the AYLUS booth, volunteers helped children participate in a Spin Wheel game for $3 per turn and sold assembled Chinese paper dragons. They also assisted in assembling the dragons themselves, contributing to a total of $239.52 raised for RIP.
Beyond the AYLUS booth, volunteers contributed to various activities throughout the fair. Some led paper cutting, pitching pots, and handicrafts in the game area, while others supervised children at the trampoline area or assisted fair staff with other tasks. Additionally, volunteers represented AYLUS and their school at another booth to further raise funds for RIP.
A special contribution came from Junyi (Shirley) Chen, Daniel Wang, and Poppy Wang, who handcrafted over 50 ornaments, hairpins, keychains, earrings, and Chinese New Year pins for sale at the fair. Their efforts resulted in an additional $52 in donations for AYLUS.
