On Saturday, March 29th, 10 AYLUS volunteers had set up shop in Russell Creek at 6:00 pm, lasting up until 8:30 PM. We were fundraising for the Plano children’s hospital, and had $3 cotton candy, $4 boba tea, $1 ice cream, $3 ice cream floats, $14 raw natural & local honey, and $2 ice water for sale. The most popular items were definitely the cotton candy, boba tea, and the ice cream floats! However, we only had one gallon of milk, so it quickly ran out by the end of the night. Additionally, it was very windy, and all our signs kept falling down! Despite this, many people of all ages chose to support AYLUS with a sweet treat before entering the park, paying with either of Apple pay, credit card, cash, or Zelle! On our end, we were again split into roles, working at either the cotton candy station, boba tea station, ice cream float station, or advertising. In the middle of fundraising, a group of senior high schoolers from Plano West had interviewed one of the volunteers, asking about AYLUS’s mission! It was great to be able to share about our non-profit organization and all the things we were able to do (for example, the African library project or the Loops for Love project, to name a few)! With much hard work from everyone in the team, over a hundred dollars were fundraised that night!
