On Sunday, March 16th, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM, the AYLUS Roslyn Branch visited the CP Nassau Bayville location.
The Syosset Fortune Star Band returned for their second visit to CP Nassau, marking an exciting moment for both the residents and volunteers. Before the performance, we helped prepare the residents by ensuring everyone was comfortably seated and ready to enjoy the show. The atmosphere was lively as we made sure everyone was settled and looking forward to the performance.
The rock band’s performance was a huge success. They played a diverse setlist, including songs like Immortals, Enter Sandman, Big City Nights, That’s What I Like, and Counting Stars. The band also performed Viva La Vida, Love Song of the West Sea,Dancing Queen and God Bless America, keeping everyone engaged and entertained. The music filled the room with energy and joy, and many residents clapped, sang along, and swayed to the melodies. After the performance, the residents shared how much they loved the show, and it was heartwarming to see how the music brought so many smiles to their faces.
It was touching to hear how much the residents enjoyed the music and how happy it made them. This experience reminded us of the power of music. It’s more than just entertainment—it’s a way to connect, bring comfort, and uplift people, especially those who may not always have the chance to experience such moments of joy. We realized that sometimes, it’s the simplest things that can create the most meaningful impact.
After the band left, we moved on to arts and crafts, allowing residents to express their creativity. Then, we played Wii games, which was one of their favorite activities among the residents. Finally, we assisted in moving the residents to their lunchroom.
We’re incredibly thankful to the Fortune Star Band for returning and bringing so much happiness to everyone. We look forward to seeing them again soon!
The volunteer experience at CP Nassau was incredibly rewarding. Through the Fortune Star Band’s performance, arts and crafts, and interactive activities like Wii games, the volunteers not only brought joy and entertainment but also fostered meaningful connections with the residents. This visit showed us that spending time together and sharing music can bring joy and create lasting memories.
