On March 22nd, the AYLUS Dix Hills Branch participated in an environmental cleanup at Welwyn Preserve County Park, focusing on the trail and beach shoreline.
Equipped with trash bags and grabbers, the volunteers took care to clean the area while ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding ecosystem. As they hiked along the trail, they encountered various types of litter, including water bottles, a lot of broken glasses, plastic, old clothing, and a number of cans. These items, if left unchecked, can harm wildlife and pollute the environment for years.
Volunteers walked about 1.5 hours to clear the trail and the beach shoreline, helping to restore the park’s beauty and preserve its natural state. Their efforts not only contributed to a cleaner, more sustainable environment but also underscored the importance of responsible waste disposal and the role each individual plays in safeguarding nature.
