On March 15th, the Syosset AYLUS organization volunteered at Long Island Native Plant, where we focused on various tasks assigned to us by two workers at the greenhouse, Pam and Maggie, who guided us on what to do and how to do it. We completed tasks such as moving cylindrical blocks to create more pallet space for plants. We used these blocks as support beams. We also prepared more soil by taking out soil batches and placing them on trays for further use. Additionally, we moved plants outside to the greenhouse as the weather was improving, creating more space inside. We transported plants that were under pallets to lift them and allow sunlight to reach them. Another task involved putting up a large tarp over the greenhouses to regulate the temperature. If it got too cold, the plants could die. Overall, the AYLUS organization was very successful in helping out Long Island Native Plant.
