AYLUS Dix Hills Cleans up the hiking trail of Creek Park

The AYLUS Dix Hills Branch volunteers at Creek Park to help clean up the hiking trail, contributing to the preservation and improvement of this beloved local space. Creek Park is a small park nestled in the heart of Russell Gardens village, primarily serving as a serene spot for residents to take short hikes, enjoy nature, and unwind in a peaceful environment. The park features a scenic, mile-long trail that winds through lush greenery, offering visitors a chance to connect with the outdoors. However, during the cleanup, volunteers encountered various types of litter scattered throughout the trail, including discarded water bottles, broken glass, plastic wrappers, aluminum cans, and other forms of waste that detracted from the park’s natural beauty. Aware of the impact this trash could have on both the environment and the local wildlife, the dedicated volunteers walked around the park for almost 2 hours, carefully collecting the waste. Their efforts not only helped restore the trail’s natural appeal but also promoted a sense of community responsibility.
