AYLUS North Hollywood Volunteers for an LA Compost Hub in Cottonwood Urban Farm | February 8, 2025

Activity & Impact

On February 8, 2025, three members of the AYLUS North Hollywood Branch volunteered at a Compost Hub in Cottonwood Urban Farm from 9am-1pm. This Compost Hub was established by LA Compost and works to reduce landfill waste. Volunteers helped turn food scraps provided from the community into compost to be reused. Activities done by volunteers included sifting and tending compost piles, managing bin systems, weighing in and dumping scraps, and supplying mulch in wheelbarrows to mix into the compost piles. Volunteers weighed in and turned around 205 pounds of scraps into compost which would have ended up on the landfills. This organization is helping to make a difference in the wellbeing of our planet, and the help of our volunteers supported this goal.
