Chapel Hill Branch Volunteers at PORCH on February 9th, 2025

On February 9th, the AYLUS-Chapel Hill branch got to volunteer for the first time at PORCH’s new location in Carrboro! The main focus of Sunday’s event was to support the program PORCH for Pantries and make preparations for PORCH for Families, a scheduled week to give over 700 families in the area a chance to come and shop inside the building. With the recent warming weather, it was perfectly sunny outside as members spent time transferring bags onto carts, labeling, weighing, and then wheeling in community donations. As the weather grew hotter later on, the 2 to 4 PM shift also grew especially busy with more porch coordinators arriving at a time, meaning an increase in carts to be brought in and a growing pile of bags to organize. However, everyone worked hard together to keep the flow going, also getting to enjoy treats from a local bakery! This opportunity was a lot of fun, and we are so glad to continue working with families throughout the community. Thank you, PORCH; always looking forward to more in the new year!
