AYLUS Roslyn Provides Food to Local Families through NOSH delivers! Food Pantry (50th) on February 8th, 2025

On Saturday, February 8th, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 2025 volunteers from the Aylus Roslyn Branch helped Nosh Delivers, a nonprofit food pantry that was founded during the pandemic to help struggling families in need. 5 years later they still provide nutritious groceries or “Nosh bags” to hundreds of families.

When the volunteers arrived, they got assigned different tasks that all had the similar goal of helping families in need. In the first hour, volunteers helped organize and stock the shelves and packed loaves of bread with Nosh staff. After finishing their task, they got assigned by staff to prepare Valentine’s day supplies since Valentines is right around the corner. Volunteers put table cloth, stickers, supplies, decorations on the tables given. In the last few minutes staff and volunteers from the Aylus branch and other young volunteers put red, white, and pink balloons and decorations up on the rails outside of the Nosh Delivers building.

Some obstacles we came across were to understand what to do. Sometimes when the staff told us what to do, it was hard to comprehend. Chances are you’ll be stuck on one job for a couple of hours. Skills you need to take on this job are patience and determination. Something that helped you overcome this challenge is knowing that every loaf, every can, etc that you organize is going to a family in need. Not only the families, but the staff as well.

Members who participated include: Josephine Zhang (3 hours), Leah Chan (3 hours)
