On February 1st, AYLUS volunteer set up a stand in the 99 Ranch market to fundraise for children’s hospital. At the event, we sell cotton candy, food, backpacks, etc. By setting the event at the door of the supermarket, people will be more likely to buy something on the way in or out. Our stand includes cotton candy, backpacks, balloon animals, and crochet plushies. Most people bought cotton candy, and rarely any people bought balloon animals and other products. Cotton candy is easy to afford and gets more practical uses, while backpacks are a bit expensive, and other products only serve aesthetic value. The popularity reached a peak around 2 hours after we started. We started at 2 pm to 5 pm, which is 3.5 hours. We made around 50 dollars. I observed that the more practical value a product has in the Asian community, the more selling efficiency can increase a bit more compared to aesthetic products with less practical use. Further, the choice of the stand can matter the popularity of the stand and the selling efficiency. My suggestion for the next time will be to focus on food and useful products instead of plushies and balloon animals these kinds of aesthetic products. Further, I will move the stand slightly closer to the entrance so it can attract more people.
