AYLUS Syosset branch help set up for Lunar New Year festival Long Island Children’s Museum on 01/24/25

On January 24th, the AYLUS Syosset branch volunteered at the Long Island Children’s Museum to set up Lunar New Year decorations around the first and second floor, and also put gold chocolate coins in envelopes. Since the group consisted of 31 people, we split into two groups at the beginning. One group was decorating the lower floor with Chinese ornaments and lanterns, while the other group put the gold coins inside the red envelopes that were going to be distributed. Both groups helped out with the last thing, which was hanging up signs and decorations on a wall (made of net) using transparent nylon string.

The Chinese ornaments were gold and red, to symbolize vitality and good fortune. The event that was prepared is set to take place the next day, on 1/25/25, where red envelopes will be handed out to visitors. This event was organized by Long Island Chinese American Association (LICAA) to promote and spread awareness of Chinese culture.
