AYLUS Syosset Volunteer At the Nassau Cerebral Palsy Association on 1/5/24

On Sunday, January 6, AYLUS Syosset volunteered at a center for the Cerebral Palsy Association. Cerebral palsy is a disease that affects the brain which gives challenges with speech, vision, and hearing. This association gives many opportunities and programs for ones in need as well as help advocate people with cerebral palsy by hosting events with fundraising. Today, volunteers were able to come to the center to work with the residents alongside AYLUS Roslyn,

Both groups contributed different activities that varied from little fidgets to crafts and games. When we first arrived, we started everyone off with some hands-on crafts. Many enjoyed coloring, while others worked on some scratchers where they could draw on colorful designs. Others had the option to read books or move on to some more active games. Some of these included throwing darts, axes, or a life-size Connect 4. We wrapped up the day by putting on Paddington for all residents to sit back and watch.

Having younger students being able to help out others that didn’t receive the same life helps us understand to not take the simpler things in life for granted. At the same time, it allowed the residents to have a better time with fun crafts and activities.
