The first online 3D modeling camp, held on 1/19/2025, was taught by Jerry Yang and assisted by Eric Huang. During the hour-and-a-half-long course, students were introduced to 3D modeling and the modeling software Blender and were taught how to download and setup Blender, navigate around in the Blender viewport, select objects in multiple ways, access orthographic views in the viewport, transform objects in multiple ways, and delete and add objects. They were also taught additional tools like moving and resetting the 3D cursor, changing object orientations, and parenting objects.

For the first class, Jerry and Eric included an additional 15-minute Q&A session to address multiple student questions and specific issues.

Additionally, Jerry spent 2 hours making a PowerPoint presentation with 29 slides going over topics like how to download and setup Blender, navigate around in the Blender viewport, select objects in multiple ways, access orthographic views in the viewport, transform objects in multiple ways, and delete and add objects to prepare for the class.

Our branch members volunteered from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm, contributing a total of 5.5 volunteer hours:

– Jerry Yang: 2 hours (curriculum design and class slideshow creation)

– Jerry Yang: 1.75 hours (1.5 hours: teaching & extra 0.25 hours: Q&A)

– Eric Huang: 1.75 hours (1.5 hours teaching & extra 0.25 hours: Q&A)
