On December 14, 2024, the AYLUS Oyster Bay Branch hosted a workshop, Solar-Powered Educational Lego Toys, in collaboration with the Sangha Education Center at the Malcolm House. The event featured three different types of solar-powered toys donated by the Xi’an Solar Energy Association, which were a miniature telescope, satellite, and a vehicle toy.
We started off with a presentation by Christina Mink, the team president, who explained to us the purpose of each of the toys. The satellites are used for positioning and communication, the telescopes are used for researching and exploring the universe, and the emergency communication vehicles are used for emergency responses.
After the presentation, we started building the miniatures. We all worked together to help each other. We worked as a team and in the end, we were able to make the solar powered toys work. All of us gained some experience and knowledge from building the toys, and most of us were able to finish building all three types.
We had a lot of fun constructing the miniatures. At the end, we were able to successfully complete almost all of the 60 toys. From this experience, we learned about the different technologies and how to work as a team.
