On Saturday, December 7th, the AYLUS Greater Tulsa Branch went to our local Asian Supermarket to promote and fundraise for our Africa Library Project. Our goal for this project is to create a small library for children in rural Sub-Saharan Africa, helping them get the education they need. In order to make this happen, we need to collect 1,000 books and raise approximately $700 for the shipping costs to Africa.
We spent time last week fundraising at Pan-Asia Supermarket but returned as a checkpoint and to continue our fundraising efforts. We handed out mini flyers that included the important information and talked to customers to spread awareness about the project. We also blew up balloons and sold toys, stuffed animals, costumes, and holiday decorations. It was a successful time as we were able to reach and talk to many people who shared the passion for working for people who are less fortunate.
We had 7 kids and 2 adults participating.
