Aylus Great Neck Branch Volunteer at Firefighter Park on December 7th, 2024
On Saturday, December 7th, 2024, the Aylus Great Neck branch volunteered at the Firefighter Park to help at the annual Light and Ice Festival. This is to celebrate the coming of winter and the soon-to-come Christmas only a few weeks away. They decorated the park with abundant light and many Christmas themed decorations. There was an ice skating rank, fire pits, igloos, inflatables, goods and sweets, Christmas music, and many more.
To better help the 10hours event, AYLUS Great Neck divided the volunteers into two groups, one work from 12 pm to 5 pm, another from 5pm to 10pm. The volunteers were mainly assigned to monitor the inflatable bouncy houses. We had to make sure a certain amount of number of kids within to make sure it doesn’t get overcrowded leading which can lead to harm. Each bouncy inflatable was stationed with members of Aylus to ensure the safety of the children and to protect them from harm. Other jobs that the branch did included monitoring the ice rink and making sure that children didn’t accidentally cause trouble and mess around with the decoration. We also cleaned leaves from the cotton snow so that it is more white and has a better appearance to the visitors. Even the temperature below Zero, our volunteers worked together efficiently through the cold to make sure that all the visitors had an amazing time at the festival.
