On Nov 29th, Aylus hosted used crayon sorting and holiday gift preparation for low-income students. This event consisted of setting up backpacks with supplies to give to kids who are less fortunate as crayons, handmade holiday greeting cards, stationary organizer before the event began. We first had to get the supply such as the crayons and the handmade cards.
The crayons were all donated by others and we planned to send to a crayon recycling organization. However, when we looked at the crayons that were being donated, we noticed that most of them were in good condition and did not need to be recycled. They can just be given to kids in their original form. So when the event started, we first began sorting out the crayons by quality and color. Once we had them all, we started packing them into little gift bags around 20 different colored crayons, We also added a cute eraser into the bag just for fun. we finish with around 15 bags of crayons. Then we started to fill each backpack with the holiday greeting note made by the backpack donator, a pack of crayons and a stationary organizer.
We hope those gifts will spread joy, warmth, and kindness to children and families who are facing financial challenges, help to brighten their spirits and create a sense of inclusion in the celebrations.
