Murrieta AYLUS Helps STAT Horse Sanctuary (27th) (11/23/2024)

Reported by Adora Xiao :

On November 23rd, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped at the STAT horse sanctuary.
Arriving and meeting some of the new horses, the volunteers got to work cleaning out the stalls. Sifting through the dirt to shovel all the waste and scoop it into wheelbarrows, the volunteers took turns dumping out the contents into the master pile and took breaks to pet and meet the new animals. In particular, one of the horses was newly arrived and a little skittish, so they ensured the horse was comfortable and avoided a corner of the stall. After the horses, they visited the pigs, cleaning out the two piles of waste and hay and discarding it at the pile. Afterwards, the volunteers took carrots and fed the animals before visiting a few of the cats in the sanctuary.
