Murrieta AYLUS volunteers at the NAMI ( National Alliance on Mental Illness) Walk # 3 (11/16/2024)

Reported by Jessica Lu & Caien(Daisy) Chen :

On November 16th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped the NAMI walk.
This was the annual NAMI mental health walk, taking place on a beautiful mountain with the walk trail overlooking the lake. Members helped set up by putting up tents, hanging NAMI signs, and organizing all the booth tables. Then, members were split up.

Two of them stayed at the sign-in table, registering all the individual and group participants for the walk. While it was stressful when it became more crowded, members handled it well, and after the walk started, they took turns walking around the booths. Near the end of the walk, members went to the finish line and passed out stickers to the people that came through, encouraging them.

Another group heading to the two water stations on the trails. There were two water stations, one in the middle of the trail and the other at the end. At both stations, members passed out water to tired and thirsty walkers. At the end of the trail, surrounded by the beautiful view of diamond lake, members also helped groups take group photos against the gorgeous lake. After everyone had finished the walk, members packed up, collecting any plastic water bottles that had been left behind in order to recycle them.

Members finished off by getting some lunch and throwing away their trash.
