On 11/16, a windy but sunny Saturday morning, volunteers from the AYLUS program went down to Planting Fields Arboretum State Historical Park to help maintain the park. The volunteers were provided with gloves, along with numerous tools like scissors, shovels, shears, and garden rakes to remove invasive plants. The task at hand was to get rid of the English ivy covering the ground and wrapping around the trees. The English ivy was introduced to the parks 50 years ago as a form of ground cover. However it had grown out of hand and was actually harming the local eco system. From 9:30am to 12pm, AYLUS members worked tirelessly on removing all the English Ivy that could be seen.
