AYLUS Syosset branch volunteers at Bethpage State Park on 11/9/24

AYLUS Syosset branch went to Bethpage State Park on 11/9/24 to lay down cardboard on top
of weeds, then covered with mulch to decompose the cardboard.
With the Great Neck branch, we split into two groups, one group to remove branches and
weeds from a designated area using rakes, shovels, and pliers (everyone was equipped with
gloves to prevent injury), while the other group ripped plastic and tape off cardboard that was
going to be used in the process. The designated area was split into 3 sections. After all the
branches and weeds had been removed from a section, cardboard was laid on top of it then
watered with a hose. Then using rakes and shovels, mulch was spread across the section,
which was watered again using the water hose. This process was repeated for another two
sections. At the end of the two hours, the designated area was covered with cardboard and
mulch.
