On November 2nd from 2:30 to 3:30 the Aylus Great Neck Branch held another successful AAPI themed reading session at the Parkville Library. On that day, there were many children who showed up to listen to the volunteers read and then proceeded to engage in the many activities provided. Kylie first read Everything Aloha to the children. Then Rebecca read Awe-Samosas. And lastly, Alivia read the book Everyone Loves Career Day but Zia. The volunteers then guided the children through a series of crafts. The children were provided markers, crayons, and colored pencils to decorate fans. They were also able to use leaf stickers and other fall themed stickers to decorate the fans as well. Jayden showed the children how to make paper airplanes. While Kylie made bookmarks and other origami art for the children. The children were also able to make various objects out of clay. For example, some children made bees and flowers. Overall, the day was both fun and enjoyable for the volunteers and the children. Volunteers were happy with how many children showed up – 11 children! Since it was the last time for this fall session, volunteers gave out little toys such as bracelets and small airplanes to the children.
