Murrieta AYLUS volunteers at the Temecula Half Marathon and 5K,10K (2nd) (11/3/2024)

Reported by Adora Xiao :

On November 3rd, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members helped the Temecula 5k,10k,Half Marathon.
Starting with setting up the bike racks for the end of the marathon, the volunteers lined up the racks to outline the final stations and resting areas. Unfolding various tarps, they covered the racks with marathon signage and prepared the stations for use. As the volunteers took a long trek up the hill alongside the runners, they familiarized themselves with the route, before taking their post at their specific station behind the finish line. They handed out water, bananas, tangerines, and medals to the finishers. They unpackaged the medals for the different types of runs and sorted them on the table to hand them out, and unloaded the bags of bananas and tangerines as they ran low. After the bananas ran short, they handed out extra tangerines until the runners were mostly finished. Taking a short break to enjoy the winery and visit the attractions, they then cleaned up their station and gathered the plastic bottles to recycle at a later date.
