On October 26th, AYLUS members enjoyed a meaningful morning with their special needs friends at DCFC. Each volunteer paired with a friend, guiding them through activities that emphasized social boundaries, respect, and body flexibility through dancing. In the second part of the session, the volunteer leader led a creative card-making activity in celebration of October birthdays. With the support of their volunteer partners, the friends crafted beautiful, personalized cards. The morning concluded with a mini birthday party, bringing joy to everyone involved. The sample birthday card made for the card-making class was presented to Joyce, the special needs teacher, in celebration of her October birthday.
For safety concerns, Tianlu pre-cut all the required pieces before going to DCFC so that special needs friends only need to draw/color/glue the paper without the need to use a scissor for the card-making.
Karen sorted the relatively new crayons from the Aylus Used Crayon Drive and organized them into recycled tea leaf boxes. This approach not only saves on activity costs but also helps the environment.
