Activity & Impact
On October 13th, 2024, nine members of the AYLUS North Hollywood branch volunteered for the CicLAvia: Heart of LA event in Little Tokyo from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM. CicLAvia is a large community festival during which streets are closed for bikers and for other forms of active transportation. It is hosted by the nonprofit CicLAvia, which “catalyzes vibrant public spaces, active transportation, and good health through car-free streets. CicLAvia engages with people to transform our relationship with our communities and with each other.” Events are hosted a few times a year.
During the event, our volunteers provided directions and assistance to bikers and pedestrians attending the festival, asked for participant feedback through a survey, stood at posts with signs to ensure that participants complied with mandatory dismount zones, and helped with clearing CicLAvia signs and posters at the end of the event.
