In our recent community endeavor, members of AYLUS Woodbridge rallied together to support the Friends of the Library nonprofit organization. On September 4, our volunteers dedicated their time to cleaning and organizing books, contributing to the noble mission of the Friends of the Library of the Woodbridge Town Library. This nonprofit, known for its commitment to promoting literacy, takes in book donations from libraries and other sources. The books are then sold or redistributed to places such as prisons and the military. The funds generated from these activities are channeled back to the library, enriching the community by enabling the purchase of essential items beyond the regular budget, including furniture and other resources. Volunteers spent most of the time help cleaning books and ensuring that they were in good enough condition to be sold or re-gifted. Each book had to be checked for writing on the insides, and cleaned and wiped using a special solution. This event not only exemplifies our dedication to community service but also reinforces the interconnectedness of organizations working together to enhance our community’s resources and opportunities.
