On October 5th, 2024, West Essex members volunteered in the Love Serving Autism tennis class offered to special needs children at West Orange Tennis Club.
The program provides inclusive therapeutic racquet sports instruction for neurodivergent children to enhance communication, motor coordination, life skills, and behavior on and off the courts.
In the class, the coaches and volunteers emphasize individual achievement and sportsmanship along with teaching the physical attributes of the sport. In addition to focusing on tennis, the program offers modified tennis equipment and helps in building language skills with the use of communication technology.
