Newtown AYLUS Hosts Pumpkin Painting Event and Donation to Senior Living Center in October, 2024

Reported by Diana Zhang

On Saturday 10/5/24, members of AYLUS hosted an event to paint pumpkins to be given to a local senior center.

Our volunteers painted various pumpkins with different designs in the spirit of Halloween, ranging from ghosts to black cats to skeletons later donated to a senior living center. Everyone joyfully painted the pumpkins with their creative designs, allowing members to foster a creative spirit while also allowing them to help decorate the senior center for the upcoming spooky season. We dropped off the pumpkins to two sections of a senior center two days after the painting, and they all looked wonderful.

All the volunteers who participated contributed greatly to our effort in supporting the senior citizens of our community and bringing them a little bit of joy in their days. They also had a great time socializing and using their creativity to paint a large range of designs.

Those who participated are:

1.5 hours: Kylee Guo, Diana Zhang, Faye Xin, Angela Zheng, Rhianna Zhang

1 hour: Justin Peng, Lucas Zhang, Albert Chen, Vincent Tang, Lawrence Fang, Austin Choi
