Murrieta AYLUS Helps with Mission Hope Empowerment Village Program (1st) (10/5/2024)

Reported by Jessica Lu :

On October 5th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS members volunteered with Mission Hope.
On this occasion, members drove up to a new property they bought. Their housing programs were to provide a safe, stable, and low-rent place for families and also included education courses on personal finances and parenting. Members worked on painting the interior of the bedrooms today, including the ceilings. Before painting, they did some prep work, lining the walls with paper and laying tarps out. Members poured white paint into their paint trays and grabbed paintbrushes and rollers to start. When working on the ceiling, members had to be careful on the ladders, but also making sure they didn’t leave paint dripping off the ceiling. Members switched off on the ceilings since it took a toll on their necks. They also took a break in between. After finishing all the coats and the ceilings, members took the tools outside to wash. They hosed down all the paint stuck on the trays and brushes before taking them back inside and cleaning up.
