2024/10/06 Long Island Chinese School Volunteering

AYLUS volunteers at the Long Island Chinese School on October 6. Volunteers primarily focused on assisting students with their various different levels of homework and classwork and ensuring active engagement. Throughout this process, volunteers address any questions students may have related to their coursework.

Some specific actions our volunteers performed include involved clarifying instructions, providing guidance on how to solve a problem, and ensuring that students understood the lesson/concepts being taught in class. Of course, the main goal was to make things easier for the teachers. Thus, volunteers helped the teacher in grading homework to save the teacher some time. Some more physical efforts are as such: erasing whiteboards, handing out material for students, and cleaning up rooms after classes.

The combined efforts of volunteers and teachers created an educational learning environments where students could effectively learn Chinese and accomplish what students’ parents intended.

Volunteers: Jason Chen (3.5 hours), Bryan Fan (3 hours), Jonathan Fan (3 hours), Jake Wu (3 hours)
