Frisco & Plano Branch Hosted Used Batteries Recycling Event at Frisco Environmental Collection Center on September 28th, 2024

Reported by Daniel Wang

Recycling batteries helps to conserve natural resources such as rare earths, zinc, copper, iron and manganese, reducing the need to mine new materials. This helps to preserve the environment and reduce the carbon footprint associated with mining and manufacturing new batteries.

During the week before the event, our members posted the AYLUS used batteries collection event on social media. We were able to pick up many used non-rechargeable batteries and some rechargeable batteries from our neighbors and friends.  We sorted them into two boxes, one was for non-rechargeable batteries and the other was for rechargeable batteries. At 11:30 AM on September 28th, 2024, we gathered together at the Frisco Environmental Collection Center and recycled all non-rechargeable batteries into the collection container. We plan to recycle the rechargeable batteries at Home Depot once we receive more. Not only did we help the neighbors recycle used batteries, but we also spread the AYLUS spirit to the local communities.
