Syosset AYLUS Members Volunteer at Eisenhower Park Farmer’s Market 9/28/24

On Saturday September 28th, Syosset AYLUS members made a return to the Eisenhower’s Park farmer’s market. The farmer’s market consists of a handful of local vendors that all come together to share their locally made products. From fresh brewed coffee to crochet goods, the market welcomes guests of all ages. In addition, there is always a farm that comes by to share their organic produce and beautiful flowers.

Volunteers started setting up as early as 8:15 in the morning, helping put together stands, tents, and tables. At the main information desk, students helped keep track of the guest count for the data of the farmer’s market. They also stayed to run the ‘punch program’ where visitors receive a punch card for ten weeks, get a hole punched once a week, and at the end they receive a gift. There was also a booth for activities where kids can take a break and color. This stand also doubles as an advertisement for Taste NY, who used to remain with the rest of the farmer’s market but is now in its own location just a few steps from the field. At the end of the day, everyone helped take apart the market and wait until the next week.

Volunteers and hours: Nicole Zhang: 2 hours. Rachel Zhang: 3 hours. Aaron Wong: 3 hours. Fuzu Chueng: 4 hours.
