Murrieta AYLUS Volunteers at Habitat for Humanity Inland Valley #26– ABWK Senior Home Painting Projects (9/27/2024)

Reported by Adora Xiao :

On September 28th, 2024, Murrieta AYLUS helped with the A Brush with Kindness Program.
The A Brush With Kindness program is intended for lower income households that are unable to pay for paint jobs to fulfill HOA requirements. As such, the program provides volunteer workers and lower cost materials costs so that the homeowners are able to pay back their loan over time.
The volunteers arrived to assist with taping up the house area and lay down paper and tarps. They then attended the briefing and safety meeting, before getting to work. They sped through a side wall early on to avoid the heat later in the day, before moving on to the backside which was completely shaded. Carefully avoiding some air conditioning units and pipes, they finished their section of the back before taking a break. After their break and some drinks and snacks, the volunteers returned to tackle the shed near the back of the home. Despite the heat, the volunteers were able to cover across most of the shed with a few coats. Afterwards, the volunteers cleaned themselves up, took down the tape, and folded the tarps.
