On Friday 9/20/2024, 3 members of AYLUS taught students ranging from first-graders to ninth-graders in various math topics at the local Chinese school, the Newtown Yardley Chinese School. Lucas Zhang (Event Leader), Albert Chen, and Alex Hu participated, teaching from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
Our volunteers taught two classes, one for younger and one for older students. During the teaching time minutes, the older students went over the Pythagorean theorem, special right triangles, and Pythagorean triples, engaging in AMC 10-level questions. The younger students reviewed basic competition math (Kangaroo math questions 1 through 10).
All 3 members had an enjoyable time teaching and felt that they had gotten through a considerable amount of content, positively impacting young students within the community by providing advanced math instruction and review.
