On September 21, 2024, 4 members of the AYLUS branch participated in a beach cleanup hosted by Keep Brevard Beautiful on International Coastal Cleanup Day.
Our volunteers gathered 15lbs of trash across 3 miles on the beach, picking up countless cigarettes, bottle caps, and pieces of plastic. These dedicated youths walked the farthest out of everybody while in the Florida heat with no complaints. This beach cleanup brought together members of our community to work together and make our beaches a safer place for marine wildlife. From this experience, our volunteers have developed an understanding of the importance of keeping public areas clean, acknowledging that small acts of service such as picking up a soda can, can go a long way.
