On September 14 2024, Murrieta members worked at the garden at Jacob’s House.
Today’s goal: loose soil and prepare the bed for fall / winter plants. Members have an excellent opportunity to put their classroom knowledge into practice by creating optimal beds for healthy plant growth. They divided each bed into 2-3 smaller sections, leaving a groove between them to allow excess water to drain away. This design prevents the plants from becoming waterlogged while ensuring that the water in the grooves can still nourish the plants.
Members also clear away fallen leaves to keep the garden clean and tidy.
To facilitate plant growth, members chose to start vegetable seedlings at home and transplant them into the ground once they’ve sprouted.
